The CDJ-3000X is AlphaTheta’s latest flagship media player

AlphaTheta has announced its new flagship media player, the CDJ-3000X.

Inheriting the legacy of the CDJ-3000, which was released in 2020, the X adds express access to online music, expanded connectivity, enhanced reliability, sound quality that surpasses the CDJ-3000 and more.

The CDJ-3000X from AlphaTheta — which develops and markets products under the Pioneer DJ brand — brings enhanced connectivity through its access to cloud storage and music streaming services. The new unit also boasts built-in Wi-Fi, as well as a front panel that features an NFC touchpoint, allowing instant access to online media by simply holding a smartphone over the reader without the need for a LAN cable. Users will need a subscription to rekordbox Creative or Professional plans to use CloudDirectPlay.

An enlarged 10.1 inch touch screen — the largest on any AlphaTheta media player — offers more intuitive browsing, allowing users to see up to 16 tracks on screen at once. The CDJ-3000X also introduces the addition of a USB-C port, expanding the potential for the use of a wider range of USB storage devices.

Jog wheel control has been made more precise thanks to its wider range of tension adjust, while rebuilt play and cue buttons bring increased durability — AlphaTheta claims these withstand “over 500,000 additional presses compared to the previous model”.

Enhanced audio quality is delivered on the CDJ-3000X with a new high-performance DAC and redeveloped power supply, which AlphaTheta state results in high-resolution sound that balances punch with clarity that stands out in the club. Noise is also reduced in comparison to the original CDJ-3000, alongside a thicker bass sound, while AlphaTheta also states the new unit delivers improved channel separation and frequency response.

Elsewhere on the CDJ-3000X, the playlist edit feature allows you to edit playlists directly on the device, while the copy and paste function allows quick search operations when using the browse screen. The new unit also supports Universal DJ Library, an evolution of rekordbox’s Device Library Plus that enables you to use compatible hardware to play music exported via USB not only from rekordbox, but other DJ applications, such as djay Pro and Traktor Pro 4

The AlphaTheta CDJ-3000X is available now, and ships for £2,399. Watch the teaser video from AlphaTheta below, and find out more information here.
