I missed this one on pre-order by a day. Don’t make the same mistake now that it’s out for real.

Originating as a “98 bpm R&B tune,” “Surrender” was originally recorded more than 20 years ago. Few records would not be ennobled by a Tony Humphries remix and “Surrender” is not an exception.

The “Le Bain” remix is a soulful house jam, filling out Omega Rae’s vocal like, well, a throwback Tony Records release. Following this is a more raw “Demo Bonus Mix” — minimal as you would imagine at first, Jersey garage down to its marrow and erupting with a virtuoso organ solo that just makes this track stand up and stand out from its peers. This is apparently the first appearance by Tony Humphries on vinyl in a hound’s age, and there’s noting trivial about it.

This appears courtesy of Wicked Records, the imprint from the legendary Bay Area crew who probably deserve a few pennies of every dollar exchanged in the grotesque EDM meat market for their services rendered in making raves a thing in the first place.

Jenö of Wicked with DJ Shakra of TE turn “Surrender” inside out for a wicked (sorry) acid remix, overflowing with big fluffy clouds and a slacker vibe. Tranquil Elephantizer’s “Angel Dub” goes one step further, into the blackness of outer space with another sub-120 bpm beast, six minutes of slow boiling acid bubbles and cosmic vibrations. Soul, acid and Jersey garage meet up for tea and microdosing. Tickets are limited.
