The Box has been fitted out with a new KV2 soundsystem, redesigned dancefloor and more
Ministry of Sound has unveiled a major refurbishment of its main room, The Box, as it prepares to celebrate its 35th anniversary.
It’s described as a “complete reimagining” of the space, and the most “dramatic” overhaul of the room since the venue launched in 1991, with a newly designed DJ booth, lighting, dancefloor and the installation of a KV2 soundsystem.
Ahead of the unveiling, Ministry of Sound’s Club Director Matt Long said: “The redesign will fully transform the room into a future-facing club space while preserving its industrial spirit.”
“The Box has always set benchmarks, particularly around sound, and this renovation allows us to reset that standard for the next generation to continue evolving the space without losing its identity,” he added.
Retiring its former Martin Audio system, which was installed in The Box in 2008, the room’s new custom six-point system consists of KV2’s SL412 tops with a combination of VHD2.21 and VHD2.16 subs — installed by sound engineering firm Patchwork London.
“KV2 Audio continues to set the benchmark for high-performance club sound,” Patchwork London’s Director Louis Jemmott says. “This installation represents a truly world-class system — one that honours the legacy of Ministry of Sound while pushing the experience firmly into the future.”
The room’s DJ booth has also been lowered to accommodate a 360-degree view, alongside an elevated backstage area behind the booth, increasing the room’s capacity by 200.
Other additions include a 9㎡ state-of-the-art overhead light installation, and new video and lighting design from Lucid Creates, the studio behind installations at Boomtown, Glastonbury and Pacha Ibiza.
The Box will officially relaunch today (January 30), with a party featuring sets from Tom Enzy, Joezi, Moeaike and more. Find more info and tickets here.
