The tour will track “Dublin’s dancefloors, past, present and future”, hosted by historians, DJs and promoters
An “interactive” bus tour visiting Dublin’s lost clubs and music venues is set to begin next month, offering a look at the changing landscape of nightlife in the city.
The tour, named Lost and Found: Tracking Dublin’s Dancefloors – Past, Present and Future, comes from the teams behind nightlife campaign group Give Us The Night and arts organisation Irish Architecture Foundation.
It aims to ask where clubbers will dance next, while exploring Dublin’s vanished dancefloors and legendary venues, which now take the shape of repurposed buildings and new developments.
The tour will be hosted by DJs, promoters, historians and architects, as well as others connected to the city’s music industry, who will share their perspectives and memories about the places visited during the bus ride.
“Along the way, passengers will be invited to join the conversation, sharing their own experiences, favourite nights, memories and hopes for the future of our city,” reads a description of the tour.
The tour is also dubbed a “moving archive” of the city’s nightlife, which will “look back at where we’ve been, taking stock of where we are, and imagining where we might dance next.”
The first two tours will take place on October 14, each lasting for one hour and 45 minutes. While no further tours have been announced just yet, Give Us The Night confirmed that it will host additional tours in the future.
Speaking to Resident Advisor, DJ and Give Us The Night co-founder Sunil Sharpe called it a “ghost bus tour”, intended as an “inspiration session as we visualise our dancing future, particularly in terms of new locations and emerging venue types.”
