Pronounced ‘kink’, the venue and team behind it have been established to dedicated to “empower queer, trans, and low-income communities through access, support, and celebration”. As Resident Advisor reports, the space is based in a 15,000 square foot, two-storey warehouse in Brooklyn. Run by and for queer nightlife workers, it will provide healthcare services and work-based training during the day, and host music programming at night.
A number of key New York nightlife figures will sit on QNCC’s Board of Creative Directors, including Juliana Huxtable, Nita Aviance and Total Freedom. The board also includes actresses, writers, journalists, comedians and fashion designers.
The music programming will open to the public on 5th October for SLAMBIENT, a Sunday event featuring ambient DJ sets from Madison Moore, Shaun J. Wright and others.
Executive director Michael Falco and creative director Seva Granik are heading up the overall space. Falco is a veteran queer organiser, while Granik has been working in the nightlife industry for over two decades working and has previously been involved in famed queer parties, such as SHADE and UNTER.
