Spotify Premium users will now be able to integrate the streaming giant’s catalogue of over 100 million tracks with rekordbox and Serato DJ

AlphaTheta and Serato have announced Spotify integration for rekordbox and Serato DJ.

Spotify Premium users with either rekordbox, or Serato DJ Pro or Serato DJ Lite, will now be able to access the streaming giant’s catalogue of over 100 million tracks.

This means DJs using rekordbox in Performance mode for Mac/Windows, or Serato DJ Pro/Lite, will be able to bundle them with their own library of music.

For rekordbox, the integration will be available in multiple countries, including the US, Germany, Italy, Ireland, the UK, France and many more. Check out the full list of locations and find out more at the rekordbox site here.

The latest version of rekordbox, rekordbox 7, was released last year. The new Spotify integration is available now in Serato DJ Lite and Serato DJ Pro 3.3.5.

As The Verge previously reported, Spotify stopped supporting third-party DJ apps in July 2020 due to Digital Rights Management (DRM) restrictions.

Earlier this year, Apple Music was added as a streaming service to rekordbox DJ and Serato, along with other key DJ software such as DENON’s Engine DJ platform.

AlphaTheta — the parent company of the Pioneer DJ brand — recently released its new “next-generation media player”, the CDJ-3000X. The item brings enhanced connectivity through its access to cloud storage and music streaming services.

Meanwhile, Spotify continues to court controversy, with a number of artists removing their work from the streaming platform. Xiu Xiu, Kalahari Oyster Cult, and Deerhoof are amongst the artists and labels to have exited the platform in response to CEO and co-founder Daniel Ek’s connections to AI military defence company Helsing, including June’s  €600 million investment in the firm, and a previous €100 million stake acquired in 2021.
