Artists and venues describe a pattern of cancelled nights, unpaid costs and vanished listings linked to Kieran Wells.

Dozens of young DJs across Scotland say they’ve been booked for events that never happen by a man operating under shifting aliases, according to a new report from the Glasgow Bell.

Multiple accounts describe a similar pattern: Kieran Wells recruits young DJs via social media, adds them to group chats and lineups, and encourages them to help source venues, design artwork and promote ticket sales. In some cases, artists say they were asked to cover upfront costs for venues or sound systems. Events are then cancelled—often citing a family emergency—and associated pages deleted.

Ticketing platforms automatically refunded buyers in the cases reviewed, and no interviewees confirmed losing money directly to Wells. Venue staff also reported cutting off contact after what they described as time-wasting enquiries.

The impact, artists say, is reputational and emotional. Several first-time performers promoted cancelled shows to friends and family, only to withdraw days later. “It got my hopes up,” one DJ told the Glasgow Bell. “I don’t know what he gets out of it.”

The pattern resurfaced in early 2026 after Glasgow DJ A-TØN shared her experience on TikTok, prompting others to come forward with similar stories dating back years.

Wells, speaking over the phone to the Glasgow Bell, denied taking payments and said financial difficulties meant he could not follow through with events. “I’m not a scammer,” he said. “It’s just stupid (…) I’ve pissed off a lot of people.” He added that he doesn’t plan to promote events in future.
