The Queens space will eject and may permanently ban anyone caught carrying or wearing the devices.
BASEMENT, the New York techno club, has banned smart glasses.
The team made the announcement last Thursday, August 27th, via Instagram. The post explained that the rule applies to anyone bringing smart glasses into the venue, not just those wearing them, who will be asked to leave and may be permanently banned.
“Our no photo/no video policy exists to protect the privacy, safety and freedom of everyone on our dance floor,” the post read. “Devices that allow discreet recording are incompatible with that policy.”
BASEMENT is known for its no phones policy, where stickers are placed on cameras. The Queens space was founded in 2019 and has since become one of New York’s most renowned techno venues for techno. It will host the likes of Takaaki Itoh, Ogazón, Boris, Massimiliano Pagliara, LYDO and more in the coming weeks.
